Google’s official notice
Google asks third-party profile managers serving small and medium-sized businesses to share its guidance with every client.
Read “Working with a third party” ↗1. Independent service and clear fees
Google Business Profile is a tool provided by Google at no extra cost. Place & Proof is not Google and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google. Any fee paid to Place & Proof is for independent management, content, reporting and advisory work—not for buying a listing or special treatment from Google.
2. The client keeps ownership
The client remains the owner or co-owner of its Business Profile. Place & Proof should normally be invited as a manager, not given ownership. Clients should not share their passwords.
3. Authority and approvals
Place & Proof will not claim or manage a profile without the business owner’s written authorisation. Material profile changes are made only within the authority agreed with the client. Responding to reviews on a client’s behalf requires explicit approval, which may be given through an agreed approval process in the service contract.
4. Honest claims
No third party can guarantee top placement, permanent visibility, a particular number of leads or the removal of genuine reviews. Place & Proof reports what it can observe and control, distinguishes Google Business Profile data from other sources, and does not present a no-cost Google product as a paid listing.
5. Changes and reporting
Clients are informed about changes and edits made to their profiles. Performance information and management costs are presented clearly, and profile-specific information is not compared with or disclosed to other clients.
6. Ending access
A client can end the management relationship in line with the service agreement. Within seven business days of notice, Place & Proof will relinquish relevant permissions and give the client the ability to regain exclusive control of its profile, subject to any steps that only the client or Google can complete.
